DETAILS ABOUT THE VISIT

Visit is a learning experience about our family´ s deep connection to Nature, traditional crafts, Sámi culture, ancient survival skills and reindeer herding.

During the visit it is possible to see Siberian Jays and other wild birds.

During summer our reindeer are not at home. Our reindeer roam free in our reindeer herding district which is a 3000 hectare area.

Me, Anne, mother of the family host private cultural visits visits at our home. I also track injured reindeer with our dog Piergi and I make handcrafts for our family and for my Giftshop.

I create similar kind of handcrafts what our ancestors did long time ago such as reindeer leather and Fish leather made with ancient methods. Different kind of tree bark turn in my hands into beautiful useful items. 

Our guests get to see unique items made from local nature materials and how we utilize the same material in many ways.

I do also Skolt Sámi embroidery and modern crafts like seed bead earrings.

Learn about the Sámi languages. Our home language is Inari Sámi. We are only 300 speakers left. What does our home lake name mean in Inari Sámi and how does the language sound like.

We have two friendly dogs called Tivgâ and Piergi.
