DETAILS ABOUT THE VISIT

This visit is an authentic experience to learn about our family´ s deep connection to Nature and Sámi culture.

During the visit it is possible to see Siberian Jays and other wild birds.

I am a reindeer herder and nature entrepreneur by profession. Mother of three. During summer when our reindeer roam on their summer grazing land I do handcrafts for my Giftshop and harvest nature materials for my crafts. I also track injured reindeer with my dog when needed and I host private cultural visits for travellers.

I create similar kind of handcrafts what our ancestors did long time ago. Reindeer leather, Fish leather, Pine roots, Willow and Birch bark turn in my hands into beautiful useful items. Our guests get to see unique items made from nature materials and learn how we reindeer herders utilize the hole reindeer for food and handcraft materials.

I do also more modern crafts like seed bead earrings Instagram @karhukoru and Skolt Sámi embroidery.

Learn about the Sámi languages. Our home language is Inari Sámi. We are only 300 speakers left. What does our home lake name mean in Inari Sámi and how does the language sound like..

Learn how the people survive these arctic conditions thousands of years ago. 

We have two friendly dogs called Tivgâ and Piergi.
