These birds visit us daily. Then a picture of our home lake reflecting the pastel colours of the sky on it´ s surface. Last one is a picture of a "crying fungi". Sometimes after heavy rain these Polypores drizzle out extra fluids. On this visit we look deeper in the forest to find cool hidden things like this.

DETAILS ABOUT THE VISIT

NOTICE: THIS IS NOT A REINDEER FARM VISIT TO SEE THE REINDEER.

Our reindeer live near our home during winter. Reindeer return to our place normally in the end of October but it always depends on the weather. You might see reindeer during your visit or you might see some of our family working with reindeer such as transporting reindeer with a van or a trailer or taking care of reindeer who needs medical care.

We live by a lake side surrounded by forest and hills. Our home is located 10 km from the Inari village.

Your host is a reindeer herder and Nature producer by profession.

On this visit we walk together a short distance in the forest near by and to see the peaceful lake view. You can learn about our work as professional reindeer herders. What we do around the year. You hear stories about the importancy of the nature diversity to our reindeer and how the global warming is affecting our reindeer and the wildlife in the area. Together we can study few local plants and their uses.

We have friendly dogs at home called Piergi and Tivgâ. The names are Inari Sámi which is our home language. We are only 300 who can speak Inari Sámi.

Guests can have a cup of Tea in the warmth our Kuáti. Kuáti is our craft workshop where we do all kind of handcrafts. It is full of nature materials and cool items.

We have a small giftshop where you can find unique items handmade by the mother of the family. Items are mostly crafted with nature materials harvested straight from our reindeer farm. Items have a minimal carbon footprint if any. Some items are made with recycled materials. We sell also beautiful naturally shed antlers. All of our gift bags are eco friendly.

At our reindeer farm it is possible to see and photograph wild birds. Your host is a member of the BirdLife society. We start to feed the wild birds in October and feed them carefully during winter. We take care of 18 birdhouse around the reindeer farm.

We grow, gather, fish and hunt most of our own food. You can visit our arctic veggiegarden if you are interested.

We are happy to share our knowledge for our guests.

Above are four images from our reindeer farm. First one on the left is a picture of an open fire, reindeer hides and our dog taken inside our traditional Láávu. Next is a picture of rusty red mushrooms. We use these to dye wool etc. Then is a picture of a large white reindeer antler that some reindeer shed years ago and now mice and squirrels and ground soil can utilize it. Last picture is of your host standing on ladder and hanging up a big birdhouse that she made for the Goldeneye.

OUR ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY

Angeli reindeer farm is committed to the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The company has chosen reducing inequality, responsible consumption, and climate action as its most important goals. Angeli reindeer farm annually sponsors the Inari Pride event. Angeli reindeer farm acts to increase natural diversity. The reindeer farm has a wonderful diverse environment. Huge bug hotels, flower beds, birdhouses and vegetable garden full of life. During winter birds, squirrels, hares, foxes, martins and reindeer live in a safe environment at our reindeer farm.

We pursue to saving natural resources for the future generations. We don't fly to travel fairs to attract mass tourism to our small village. We do little marketing on Instagram and TripAdvisor. We recycle waste and our customers can also recycle their waste when they visit us. We protect the surrounding nature in many ways, e.g. by reporting on the birds in the area for bird monoring in Finland, by banning insect repellents that work with nerve agents at our reindeer farm. On our close-to-nature visit, we tell the visitor through stories and concreteness how important nature diversity is. Our guests learn alot about the nature during the visit.

Our guests can buy handmade crafts from us instead of mass-produced goods shipped to Inari from far away. Our reindeer farm visit is a unique and one-of-a-kind product. The visit is based on an existing authentic local home, our family´ s nature connected life, local culture and the work of a professional reindeer herder.
